Visa ATM/Debit Card
+Looks Like a Credit Card, Works Like A Check!
Now there’s an easier way to pay...the Fort Worth City Credit Union Visa Debit Card. Use it anywhere that Visa is accepted, including over the phone, over the internet, for gas, groceries, shopping, and more! There is no annual fee, interest rates, or due dates to keep up with; in fact, there is no line of credit behind it. Instead, when you use your Visa Debit Card, funds are automatically deducted from your checking account. It also works as an ATM card, so you can pull cash out of your accounts at any ATM nationwide. Other benefits include:
Convenient and Easy to Use
Use your Visa Debit Card wherever you shop or need cash, and the funds are deducted directly from your FWCCU checking account. This allows you to carry just one card instead of checks or cash, and the Visa Debit Card is accepted anywhere you see the VISA logo.
Ideal for Paying Bills or Shopping from Home
Pay bills, order merchandise or services easily by internet, phone or mail, without worrying about interest rates or fees. It also makes budgeting easier, because each transaction is itemized on your monthly statement, so it helps you keep track of where you are spending your hard-earned money every month!
With all the possibilities this card gives you, it’s easy to see why you should have one. What are you waiting for? Contact Member Services at 817.732.2803 and order your Visa Debit Card today!
Fraud Protection and Travel Notifications
Fort Worth City Credit Union has a fraud protection service that “learns” your normal card transaction locations and behavior and flags potentially suspicious transactions until we can verify that you, the cardholder, or an authorized user, initiated the transaction. We also have a fraud protection service that analyzes and pinpoints countries and merchants that have high occurrences of fraud. To better protect our members, we then block transactions that are initiated in those countries and by those merchants.
If you are going to be traveling, especially outside of the United States, and would like to use your Fort Worth City Credit Union Debit Card or Fort Worth Proud Visa Credit Card, please contact Card Services (available 24/7) at 800.237.8990, and they will temporarily notate your card for the timeframe in which you will be traveling.
If you do receive a call that an alert has been placed on your card, please call Card Services or the Credit Union as soon as possible. (While phishing scams often use this as a way to obtain your personal information, the Credit Union can verify the validity of the phone call.) We will need you to verify the transactions before removing the alert.
See section below for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about what to do if you think your card has been lost, stolen, or compromised.

What to do if you are a Victim of Debit Card Fraud
Debit card fraud is an ongoing problem, as crooks continually find new and ingenious ways to scam people out of their hard-earned money. If you do find yourself as the victim of debit card fraud, FWCCU is here to help. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to guide you through the process.
Q: Does this mean my identity has been stolen? Should I close my account?
A: No. Debit card information can be stolen any time you swipe your card or shop online. Debit card fraud is not an indication of identity theft or that your FWCCU account has been compromised.
Q: There are unauthorized debit card purchases on my account. What do I do now?
A: If you suspect that a transaction was not made by you or an authorized card holder, please report it immediately to the Credit Union at 817.732.2803 or Card Services Fraud Center at 800.237.8990 (available 24/7/365). If it is confirmed that the transaction(s) is fraudulent, your card will be blocked and a replacement card will be ordered at no cost to you. You will need to complete a Plastic Card Claim form and a Fraud Questionnaire.
Q: Do I have to come in to the branch to dispute a transaction?
A: No, simply contact the credit union fraud center at 800.237.8990 and they will walk you through the process to file a dispute.
Q: I got a call from the Credit Union saying they detected fraud on my card. Is this legit?
A: FWCCU has a fraud protection service that analyzes and pinpoints countries and merchants that have high occurrences of fraud. To better protect our members, we then block transactions that are initiated in those countries and by those merchants. Our fraud protection service also “learns” your normal transaction locations and behavior and flags potentially suspicious transactions until we can verify that you, the cardholder, initiated the transaction. If you do receive a call that a hold has been placed on your card, please call Card Services or the Credit Union as soon as possible. While phishing scams sometimes use this as a way to obtain your personal information, the Credit Union can verify the validity of the phone call and will NEVER ask for personal information such as your full social security number, full card number, PIN, or online banking login information or security codes.
Q: How long will it take to get my money back?
A: A provisional credit will be deposited to your account once we have reviewed your claim and have all the required documentation to process your dispute. This may take up to ten days. If you do not complete the necessary paperwork, you will not receive provisional credit.
Q: I received a letter stating that my card has potentially been breached. What does this mean?
A: This means that we received notification from a merchant that they experienced a data breach (examples of recent high-profile breaches include Target and Home Depot) and your card was listed as having been used at that merchant during the specified dates. While there is no fraud at this time on your card, the potential for card fraud is greatly increased so we want to stop it before it starts. We notify you so you can keep a close eye on your account. We also order you a new card at no charge which will arrive in 7-10 days. We will keep your current card open and active for 10-14 days to give you time to receive and activate your replacement card, unless you let us know that you want your current card closed immediately.
Q: How long will it take to get my replacement card?
A: Your new card will be ordered immediately upon your request. It will arrive within 7-10 business days.
Q: How can I ensure that this doesn’t happen to me?
A: Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee that fraud will never happen on your debit card. However, there are several things to remember in order to protect yourself from fraud:
- Monitor your accounts! Enroll in Digital Banking, download our mobile app, and utilize account alerts so you can get text alerts. The more closely you monitor your accounts, the sooner you will notice suspicious activity.
- If you suspect your debit or credit card is lost or stolen, report it immediately. Call us at 888.297.3416 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Be sure to keep FWCCU informed if you are going to be traveling or making a large purchase. It is best to use a credit cards instead of your debit card.
- Never reply to phone calls, emails, or text messages that ask for your full card number, PIN number, or personal information, or ask you to go to a website to enter your card number.
- Familiarize yourself with Fort Worth City Credit Union’s phone number, website and logo. If you ever receive any correspondence that claims to be from us that just doesn’t look or feel right to you, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 817.732.2803. We will be able to confirm or deny the communication attempt. Your financial security is worth the effort!
*If you believe your Card has been lost or stolen, you will not be liable once you notify us that someone may or has used your card without your permission. The foregoing liability limitation does not apply if you are grossly negligent or fraudulent in the handling of your account or card. See deposit account disclosure booklet for full terms and conditions of liability and prompt reporting.

Card Management
+Manage your debit and credit card in digital banking
In-app Card Management helps you protect your debit cards by sending you transaction alerts and giving you the ability to define when, where and how your debit and credit cards are used. Enroll in digital banking, and your exisiting cards will appear in the Card Management tile. You can now customize your alert preferences and usage settings to monitor and manage your cards.
Alerts Ensure Safe, Secure Card Usage
Alerts for PIN and signature transactions can be set up to keep you informed of your card usage and help you quickly detect unauthorized or fraudulent activity. The app can send an alert when a card is used or when a card transaction has been attempted but is declined – and additional customizable alert options are available. Alerts are sent in real time, immediately after a transaction has taken place.
Location-Based Alerts and Controls
The location control can restrict transactions to merchants located within a certain range of your location (using your phone’s GPS); transactions requested outside of the specified range can be declined. The My Region control uses city, state, country or zip code on an expandable interactive map; transactions requested by merchants outside of a specific region can be declined. Setting Locations/Regions in the app will not guarantee that transactions will clear in your set Locations, but instead prevents transactions outside of your set Locations from clearing. You will still need to contact the Credit Union Card Services if you are going to be traveling outside of your normal usage area, especially if you are traveling internationally, to ensure that transactions are not declined.
Usage Alerts and Controls
Spending limits can be established to allow transactions up to a certain dollar value and decline transactions when amounts exceed your defined thresholds. Transactions can be monitored and managed for specific merchant categories such as gas stations, department stores, restaurants entertainment, travel, and groceries. And your transactions can also be monitored for specific transaction types: in-store purchases, e-commerce transactions, mail/phone orders and ATM transactions.
Card On/Off Setting
When the card is “on,” transactions are allowed in accordance with your usage settings. When the card is “off,” no purchases or withdrawals are approved until the card is subsequently turned back “on.” This control can be used to disable a lost or stolen card, prevent fraudulent activity in the case of a data breach, or control spending.
Key Benefits
- All cardholders can receive alerts to monitor transactions and protect their accounts
- You can actively manage your money and take charge of your card usage
- Parents can remotely control and monitor their children’s spending
- Businesses can ensure spending policy compliance
